SUTTER COUNTY CCW PERMITS
Upon approval of your Sutter County CCW application, if you have not done so yet, you will be required to
complete at least an 8 hour CCW training for an initial permit, including demonstrating the ability to
safely (and proficiently) handle and use the handguns (up to 3) to be on your permit, and you must "qualify
with each weapon to be on your permit, by specific serial number. The gun(s) must be registered to you or a
spouse, or a parent (for applicants aged 18 to 21), or registered domestic partner. To renew a
Sutter County CCW permit, you must attend a CCW renewal (refresher) course, and qualify with the weapons which will
be on your new permit, and apply for a simple renewal with the Sutter County Sheriff's department for a CCW
renewal.
Sutter County CCW permits and issuance criteria, training requirements and other information can be found on
this page with Best Handgun Training, as well as the link below, to the Sutter County Sheriff's Department.
You must schedule an appointment directly with the Sutter County Sheriff Department, CCW division. You shall
demonstrate good moral character, prove that you are an outstanding resident of Sutter County, and be prepared to
undergo a thorough and complete background check. You must be a resident of Sutter County, and 18 or older to
obtain your Sutter County CCW permit.
Obtaining a CCW (carry concealed weapons) permit in Northern CA is much easier than many bay area and Southern
CA counties. It is each Sheriff's policy which dictates whether you are able to receive a CCW, or not. The state of
CA requires that each applicant shall have good cause. Many Sheriff's in CA have determined that "good cause" shall
be personal protection or self defense. This is the case with Sutter County Sheriff J. Paul Parker. You will not
have to go through the hassle of proving an enormous amount of good cause or just cause.
Do yourself a huge favor, and take the BEST training course available, and do not allow any shortcuts when
taking this training. In CA, unfortunately, it is a "privilege" and not a right to be issued a CCW. Training is
very important, and selecting the best instructor should be a very important factor, when you will be carrying a
concealed weapon everyday. Regardless of the number of days, or how long the training is, or how far away the
training center is, it is very crucial to know the laws of the state of CA, and particularly knowing the laws when
it comes down to self defense, and where you are not allowed to carry weapons, etc., rather than just
demonstrating that you can shoot a gun at a range. Just a word of caution .... If you attend an
initial Sutter County CCW training from a desperate part time instructor offering a training course
for $80, you should know that you get exactly what you pay for. At Best Handgun Training, we are full time
instructors, and we are prepared to teach you anything and everything about CCW.
When attending an 8 hour initial CCW training course, or a 4 hour renewal course with BEST Handgun
Training, you will walk away with a tremendous amount of knowledge, and you will be well prepared to carry
concealed weapons. Check out or Facebook page to see comments from others that have attended our training.
